No, you'll have to strip out the failed por sealer and start the process over with one of our sealer kits. Any good paint stripper containing methylene chloride will remove that old sealer.

If you holes are any larger than a pin head, we recommend using our NuMetal epoxy putty on the outside of the tank first before sealing the inside.

I used por15 on my yamaha september last year to fix rust pin holes in the tank, I was very thorough and careful with the instructions, I thought I had done the job right but now have more pin hole rust, would your product work over the por15 or would I have to strip it out first

Yes, the NuMetal epoxy putty will fill and seal those holes, and can be sanded and paint too. If your going through all this effort, I would also consider sealing the inside of the tank afterwards. This way the thinner sealer will seep in and seal the holes also. Plus you will never have to worry about a rusty tank.

The basic kit is designed for pinhole sized sealing, for larger holes which you speak of would require using some of our NuMetal epoxy putty after cleaning and prepping the entire interior and affected exterior area of the tank and before applying the sealer. Here's info on the NuMetal: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/KBS-NuMetal-Epoxy-Putty_p_9-19.html

Does KBS cycle tank sealer kit come with the ability to seal larger size tank holes? About 1/8 inch to possibly 1/4 inch size? Does the kit come with fiberglass mesh or anything for that? Thank you for the response.

My wife recently surprised me with a 1985 Honda Shadow which is in very good shape, (almost). The motorcycle was a repo and sat for a while before she bought it for me. After riding the motorcycle for a few weeks, it started to develop (what I thought was) a minor gas leak from the tank. When I cleaned the area that was leaking, I found a couple of rust holes about the thickness of a #2 pencil lead or maybe a little bigger. I was wondering if your epoxy putty would be able to seal these holes. The tank has been removed and will be sanded and cleaned.
