  1. Hello,

Stupid move on my part. My motorcycle had rust in the tank. So I bought the
KBS rust coating kit. I followed all the directions and let it sit for
the past three weeks to harden. I went to fill it with gas last
night and guess what? I can not open the gas cap!

I closed the cap to move the coating all around the tank and
obviously got it on the cap. I can not turn the key and when pushing
down on the cap it does not move up and down.

Is there any solvent I can try putting in the keyhole that might loosen up the tank sealer?

    Thank you,
    Kevin
  2. Kevin, that's a tough one. Let me do some asking around and get back to you.
  3. mate the only way i got the cap off was make several copies of the key and jst turn the bloody thing out...
however i did this when it was 24hrs into cure time...so wasnt 100% dry....

twisted 3 keys (now not usuable) and get the cap off...
    lesson learnt:
    1) dont cap the tank (use duct tap to close hole)
    2) paint stripper helps (dip key in stripper then try over and over again)
    3) wd-40 ( same as above)
    4) always swirl sealer and only use a little ( i used abit too much hence the cap gettin stuck and a little puddle forming @ back of tank)
