    I am thinking about painting my cast aluminum valve covers with blacktop. Will it stand up to the heat and also what preparation steps should I take before painting?

    The heat is absolutely no problem.

    Just treat as normal with AquaKlean, RustBlast, then RustSeal (one coat) and topcoat with BlackTop.
